Hey Everybody!
I am Bronwen Voss and I am the new Confluence Greenway AmeriCorps Assistant through the Missouri River Communities Network. I look forward to an exciting here buzzing around St. Louis on both sides of the Mighty Mississippi.
Just a quick description of Confluence Greenway, "Following the foosteps of history along the majestic Missouri and Mississippi rivers, The Conluence is a dynamic conservation, heritage, and recreation corridor. Located in the heart of the St. Louis region, it beckons all to embrace, experience and explore."
We partner with numerous other organizations including: Trailnet, Grail Hill Trail Rangers, Columbia Bottom Conservation Area, Living Green in Watkins Creek, Greenway Network, Southwestern IL Resource Conservation & Development and The Trust for Public Lands.
It seems my main stomping grounds this year are going to be The Riverfront Trail, Old Chain of Rocks Bridges, Old North St. Louis, Spanish Lake and the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area.
What is most exciting is the fact that I get to work in numerous areas. I am going to be part of water monitoring acitivies and litter pick-ups and then turn around and particpate in community outreach acitivies such as; organizing community water gardens and water festivals in schools.
This year got kicked off just right too...with my first week being preparing for the Route 66 Festival.I even got to go on Show Me St. Louis with other co-workers to help promote the event. It was a little colder than normal but the atmosphere was fun, people were fantastic, food was tasty, music was awesome and the 50+ classic cars were something to marvel at.
If you are in the St. Louis region come out and join us for our next event: Sunday, October 11, 2009--Ride the Rivers Bike Race.
